Walking through the mountains,

passing through a park,

looking out across a wide open field.

We often feel a sense of calm
when we see green.

Why is that?

Is it simply because green is beautiful?
Perhaps that is part of the reason.

But if we look at it a little differently,

green has always been where life is.

Where trees grow,

grass rises,

flowers bloom,

birds rest,

and insects make their homes.

Green is the color of landscapes
where life on Earth breathes most fully.

Perhaps that is why,

when we see green,

we instinctively feel a sense of comfort

in being surrounded by a living world.

We sometimes travel far
in search of beautiful landscapes.

But the most remarkable landscapes
have always been right beside us.

A single tree outside our home,

grass holding the warmth of the sunlight,

a small blade of grass swaying in the wind.

Today,
pause for a moment
and look at the green around you.

Perhaps within it lies
the quietest story of all—

that the Earth is alive.
